Top 3 Steps for a Smooth Photo Shoot
Here’s how to we create magic!
There’s a lot more work that goes into every Quincy Street Kitchen photo than meets the eye. We love creating imagery that looks effortlessly delicious, but there’s nothing effortless about it! Here are our Top 3 Tips for a Smooth Photo Shoot to ensure that your next photo session and maximize the magic!
#1
Kick-off Questions
We start every project by asking A LOT of questions. While it may seem like a little over-kill sometimes, this helps us make sure we’re on the exact same page as our client. Some of the necessary questions we ask our clients include:
What is your vision for this content?
How will this content be used?
What social media platforms are you sharing these on?
When are you wanting the content delivered?
Do you need recipes developed to accompany the content?
How ‘seasonal’ or ‘seasonless’ do you want this content to be?
#2
Pre-Production & Expectations
After the kick-off meeting, we create a full proposal and shot list for the photo shoot. This includes creating a vision board so our clients can see exactly the type of images we will be creating. This step includes assigning roles to everyone who will be on-set. Will the maker/owner be in the images? Who will be stepping in as a hand model? Will a professional hand model be hired instead? Who is bringing which props or what additional props will Quincy Street Kitchen be purchasing for this session?
It’s at this point that we manage the expectations of our clients to make sure all parties are aligned. This includes content delivery dates, additional expenses, and who covers them, as well as logistics and timeline for the shoot day.
#3
Culling & Editing
Ringing the cowbell to wrap a shoot doesn’t mean the work is done! Actually, it’s far from over!
We always refer back to the vision board and our conversation with the client during our kick-off meeting to make sure each image is a true representation of their brand. Keeping that in mind, we begin culling and editing only the best images which will be shared with the client.
#4 (Bonus!)
Follow up & Recap
Last but not least, shortly after providing the final images, we will follow up and share our favorite tips on how best to use the new content on their various platforms. We understand so much new content can be overwhelming but have found that these tips really help our clients!
